Why ice floats?

Ever wondered why ice floats?
Well, here's the secret =) :
Ice expands when the temperature rises from -273'C to -18'C.Then it contracts when the temperature rises from -18'C to 4'C.Then again it expands again from 4'C. Well this is what that is happening during the process of floating...example:If your water is 4'C and your ice is -18'C, then your ice will float and another thing is that if your water is 99'C and your ice is -200'C, then very probably it'll sink (though it's more probably it heats up too quickly that you can't even see anything other than the white steam)
